![]() ![]() ![]() I assume Pocket Wizard FlexTT5 Transceivers would work fine with the SB-5000 as it does with other SBs. That said if only Nikon SBs are being used as light sources - I would use the WR-R10 (and SU-800) as a preference I naturally assume that since Nikon said this flash is downward compatible it would work fine with my SU-800 AND any other hot shoe TTL trigger/transceiver. I am not sure why folk believe this flash would work differently to any other Nikon flash with 3rd party TTL transceivers or triggers. The manual also say to use any other flash/controller in the camera's hot shoe (so not the SB-5000) if you want to trigger optically and wirelessly - this makes hiding accent and backdrop lights out of the way / easy if it works. Page-D-27 of the user manual says you can (examples shown on page 40 of the technical manual) - but I am yet to try this. While I know that the SU-800 can be used to trigger all nikon SB's optically - I am wondering if the SU-800 works with the WR-R10 to trigger optically and wirelessly in TTL. I am yet to try a mixed 4 flash set up - optical+wireless - OR to try the controller on other bodies - in particular the D810, which is my preferred choice for close in/studio work. The clear advantage of Wireless over optical is not needing to have line of sight between flashes and camera. I tried them at 1/5000th and 1/8000th CH shutter speed - it seems to work well but seems to run at 10 not 12 fps, but I cannot confirm for sure. I believe these work as advertised - and provide a faster recycle time than my SB-910. I can confirm that the flashes and wireless controller work fine on my D5. So my 2 SB-5000s just arrived with the Nikon WR-10 Wireless Remote Controller Set (TRANSCEIVER WR-R10, TRANSMITTER WR-T10, WR ADAPTER WR-A10) from my favourite UK Nikon Store ( Greys of Westminster ). I would also like to know, how it would function with the D700 series and D800 series cameras regards to triggering, the whys and wherefores? I may even consider the SB 700, does anyone have it? (although the power thing isn't a huge issue here). Inconsistent in TTL, slow recharge times etc, much lower power. I tried it the Meike one, my experience is as this reviewer. Please confirm if I am interpreting it right. The only possible radio communication is through newer bodies D5, D500 and D5600 (at the moment). Hi, I am also trying to learn something through this thread, so are you saying that sb5000 can not be fired (off camera) with a third party radio trigger even in manual mode? Rather go Yongnuo (cheap low end non-expandable system) or Godox (slightly less cheap, far more expandable system, Li-Ion flash available etc) ![]() It's expensive, only works via radio with a few cameras, those cameras need extra wireless bits added, the one thing it is good at is not overheating. ![]() NB - Also, seems to be no review on the SB-5000 here that I can find other than a press release. The SB-5000 now the flagship speedlight from nikon right? If so does the Sb-5000 work with wireless triggers as I've read it does not? Any info appreciated, is it any good? I used to own the SB-900 - I liked it an never had the overheat issue - will this new one be as good, any problems with it or disadvantages as you see it over the older flash? Does triggering work well, which triggers do you use etc? ![]()
