Or maybe you get three silver ingots, aka half of what you need to make a second key and hope for better luck next time. $1500, less than what you just spent to open it. Imagine finding a chest on the other side of the world in a monster-filled swamp, running all the way back to town, spending two in-game days farming orcs for ten of a specific drop, several more days mining the randomly respawning minerals and growing crops for cash, pouring that $1600 of materials into a forge to make a single-use key, trudging back to the chest, and triumphantly retrieving. You can find them in different locations, and they will sell you different useful items. The second way to get ore in Kitaria Fables is via trading with Pumpkin the Traveling Merchant. Usually, there are plenty of stones with rare ores. Without it Sunny's quest won't be available. Came online to look for help and indeed missed out on the guard's lunchbox quest. Each key costs one thousand dollars plus a minimum of $600 worth of other materials, some mined, some farmed from enemies. The most recommended place to farm ore is Mountain Tunnel Entrance. I was stuck without quests and wandered around for hours. Unlike every other game in the world, these are not exciting to find, because (with very few exceptions) you have to craft the keys yourself. There are chests throughout the world that require a certain kind of key, copper, silver or gold. The biggest punch in the gut are the chests. If you want a helmet and accessory, quadruple it. You can make that money by manually watering vegetables and selling them at a $15 profit after four days, repeat until you save up five thousand dollars. Upgrading your sword takes various resources and several thousand dollars. Enemies in one zone take 7 hits to kill, enemies in the next zone over take 34 (yes, really). Upgrading it is therefore necessary, because enemy health increases exponentially as you go along. Fast travel to the Forest Sanctuary and then simply head north (you'll have to go west and then head north, as you don't want to go into the doorway at the top of the Forest Sanctuary ruins). You have no levels, your sword is your sole damage determinant, and you don't find other weapons while adventuring. The Mountain Tunnel Entrance is the best place to farm for ore in Kitaria Fables as you can farm all types of ore here and it's easy to access. Each level of sword deals double the damage of the previous tier. The grind isn't strictly speaking the worst I've ever seen, and the game isn't particularly difficult, but it's enough to make you very aware of it. To it's credit, the sword-whacking is better than Stardew.Īs has been said in other reviews, it really feels like the game ended up way too short so they doubled resource costs across the board to stretch gameplay. It exists as a way to slowly grind up the giant piles of money you need to progress the game, which is otherwise running around whacking things with a sword. It has a farming mechanic in it, it is a thing you can do, but there is no depth to it. If you're looking for Stardew Valley 2, move along. If you just want to run around and whack things with a sword in a loop for hours you could do a lot worse, but it's hard to recommend. It's competently made, looks great, plays well enough, but the overall game design falls pretty flat.
